Orioles Great Start and Good Pitching Leads to Win over Rival

In baseball, two things can really help earn yourself a win. There are many more things that can help, but these two things can help a team win. Starting a game off right and scoring early is always known as a good thing. Pitching is also known as a key essential towards baseball. The Orioles used these two things on Saturday to gain an edge over Tea Area.

Lennox was ready to face off against the Tea Area Titans in Region 3 East Rival action on Saturday. Tea was going to use Dallas Gjertson as their starting pitcher while Lennox called upon Junior Braedon Wallenstein to pitch.

In the top of the first, a ground out and strikeout was followed by walk. However, Elkins (who was previously walked) was thrown out trying to steal second by catcher Brock Stien. In the bottom of the first, Lackas would single to center and steal second during Leisinger’s at bat. Leisinger ended up striking out to bring up Oldenkamp. Oldenkamp would hit a single to left to put runners on the corners. Hinker went up battling but he would fly out to first. With two outs, Brock Stein came up and hit a single to center to score Lackas and try and score Oldenkamp. However, the throw to home got Oldenkamp out to end the inning. Lennox had taken a 1-0 lead. In the top of the second, three strikeouts would end the inning easily for Wallenstein. Nick Kayl led off the home half of the second with a double to right. Jongeling would come up and ground out to the catcher but send Kayl to third. Lawton Luke would come up next and hit a hard ground out to first to score Kayl and make it 2-0 Lennox.

The third was uneventful and in the fourth, Tea would get going. Back to back walks and a ground out to second would bring a run in for Tea to make it 2 to 1. Another walk would load the bases, however Wallenstein would strike out Soma and then get Barthel to ground out to Hinker at first to end the inning. Lennox was still leading 2 to 1. After an uneventful fourth, Brock Anderson came into pitch in the fifth. He worked out of a jam in the fifth and struck out the side in the sixth to keep it 2 to 1. In the seventh, the closer Jacob Lackas came in looking for his second save. Lackas would strike out Brian Finn to start the seventh. Then Munkvold came up and ripped a single to put the tying run on. Bohaboj came up and struck out for out number two. Then Jacob Elkins came in and worked a long at bat and then walked to put the tying run in scoring position and the go ahead run on first. Troy Smith came up looking to hit and single, however with a one ball and two strike count, Lackas threw a fastball knee high for strikeout looking to end the game.

Lennox won 2 to 1 over Tea Area and advanced to a 2 win and 0 loss record. Lennox could thank Wallenstein, Anderson and Lackas for pitching an overall good game and only allowing 1 run and 4 hits. Lennox could also thank Lackas, Stein and Oldenkamp for displaying a good hitting performance. The Orioles had used their quality pitching and their ability to have clutch hitting to win by one run.

The Orioles now prepare for the Canton C-Hawks tonight at 5:30 in Lennox. Lennox has had some decent success against Canton as they went 1 and 2 against them last year. So come on out and support the Orioles tonight. Oh, and bring a jacket, game time is supposed to be 45 for a high with game time being around 43 degrees. So come out and see the Orioles attempt to get their third win tonight.

Thanks for reading, have a nice day and GOOOOOOO Orioles!
