Orioles Play Great, For Most of the Game

Lennox had finally stopped their losing streak with a 1-0 win over Canton on Friday. On May 2nd, Lennox took the hour drive to Alexandria to play the Hanson County Ducks. The Ducks started Wyatt Kaysor and the Orioles started freshman Brock Anderson.

The first inning went well as Lackas was hit by pitch and then Oldenkamp reached on error to put runners and first and third with one out. Oldenkamp would steal second and then junior Brock Stien pulled a 2 RBI single down the third base line and Lennox was up 2-0 early. The bottom of the first went quickly and Lennox came to bat again. In the 2nd, Jongeling singled to center and then stole second. A passed ball got Jongeling to third and with 1 out, Lackas flew out to left and scored Jongeling. However, Ludes was tagged out trying to tag from second and the inning ended with a 3-0 Lennox lead.

Skipping to the bottom of the third, two singles, a walk and a hit by pitch led to two runs for Hanson County as they now only trailed 3-2. In the fourth, Stien singled to left and Luke came into run for him. After Kayl bunted Lawton over to second, a walk and passed ball got Luke to third. However, a passed ball occurred that only rolled a little away and Luke tried to score. Luke made an amazing slide as he tried to avoid the tag. Though many people would say he wasn’t tagged, the umpire thought so and the inning ended.

Jumping to the 7th, Lennox went silent in the top of the inning and Jacob Lackas came in to replace Brock Anderson due to pitch limit. 12 ball and 1 strike led to three walks and also Tyler Leisinger coming into pitch. Leisinger would walk the first guy and then he would hit the second batter and Hanson scored the two runs they needed to take the 4 to 3 win over Lennox.

The Orioles played a great game defensively as they only had two errors in which neither of them hurt Lennox. They also had a great hitting game from Brock Stien who went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and two RBI’s. The Orioles also received a great pitching appearance from Brock Anderson who pitched six innings and struck out five. He also allowed only 2 runs and 6 hits. The Orioles would like to thank the Brock’s for their excellent performances.

The Orioles next game is Wednesday May 4th, in Lennox vs Tri-Valley. Even though this game was initially scheduled for 5:30, the game has been moved to 6:00. They will also host Garretson on Thrusday at 6:00 as this is the rescheduled date from last Sunday. So come out this week and see a couple of good baseball games while enjoying some great South Dakota evenings.

Thanks for reading, have a nice day and GOOOOOO Orioles!!
