Orioles Play in Steller Defensive Battle

A pitcher dual is a baseball game when the pitchers for both teams pitch to a high level that hold hitters to limited runs. Well Wednesday May 4th was a stellar pitching duel for Lennox between Logan Larsen, a senior of Tri-Valley high school vs Lennox’s junior Devon Jongeling.

It the top of the first, Jongeling throws thirteen pitches, allows a single but no runs to score. In the bottom of the first, Lackas is hit by pitch but Leisinger and Oldenkamp struck out followed by Lackas getting picked off of third and no runs scored. Jongeling flew through the 2nd on 7 pitches and Lennox went silent in the bottom of the inning. The top of the third was easy again as Jongeling struck out two and got a ground out on eight nine pitches. However, Lennox went silent in the 3rd. In the fifth, Jongeling got into a bases loaded jam but worked out of it to keep the score at 0-0. Lennox went quiet again in the fifth. In the sixth, John Oldenkamp came into pitch and after three walks, the bases were loaded with one out. After a strikeout, Oldenkamp got the hitter to ground out to Lawton Luke at second and end the inning. The Orioles again went silent in the sixth. The seventh started with Lackas coming in and then continued with a walk and after two stolen bases, Larsen was on third with 0 outs. The next hitter popped up to Hinker for out number one. Then back to back groundouts ended the inning with no runs scoring. The bottom of the seventh began with a walk by Kayl. He stole second and then Stien bunted to put Kayl on third. With Hinker up and looking to single to win, the catcher attempted to pickoff Kayl at third and his throw sailed into left field. That sent Kayl flying towards the plate and the left fielder couldn’t handle the ball so Kayl scored and Lennox won 1-0.

Lennox had won and now advanced to a 6 win and 4 loss record. The Orioles now ensured that they could get a 500 or even better record in the regular season. Lennox could thank Jongeling, Oldenkamp and Lackas for the excellent pitching only allowing two hits and zero runs. Lackas also had a great day at the plate with a double, a single, a hit by pitch and two stolen bases.

The Orioles now prepare to play Garretson tonight in Lennox at 6:00. The last time these two teams squared off, it was a 4-3 loss for Lennox. So with the nice weather being around and the facing of two good teams tonight, means that this game is going to be fun to watch. So come on out and see Lennox vs Garretson tonight.

Thanks for reading, have a nice day and GOOOOOO Orioles!
