Lennox Defense is Flawless in Shutout Win
Posted March 31, 2017
The LHS Baseball Team used a combination of good pitching and defense to go with an effective offense to defeat Region 3 rival Tri-Valley at a score of 11-0.
Defense is a big part of any team in any sport and it goes with the old saying "defense wins championships." The LHS defense was flawless as Senior pitcher Braedon Wallenstein led them to victory. Wallenstein tossed 5 innings allowing 3 walks, 2 hits and 0 runs while striking out 10. The defense behind him allowed 0 errors making Lennox's defense unstoppable.
Lennox offense took advantage of some bad pitching. Lennox was able to work 9 walks and a hit by pitch while also coming through with six hits. Lennox was led offensively by senior Marshal McLaren who has two singles and 3 RBIs. Other hits were Brock Andersons 2 RBI double, Quincy Ihnens RBI single, Braedon Wallenstein's RBI single and Devon Jongeling's RBI single. While most runners were walked, 9 of the 11 runs were batted in meaning the Orioles hit well when they needed to.
Lennox threw up 5 in the first followed by 4 in the second. They would pick up 2 more in the fourth and that would seal the deal in the fifth. Tri-Valley threatened in the fifth but didn't score.
With this ten run mercy rule, Lennox is now 2-0 and looking to extend that win streak to 3. Lennox travels to Garretson on Sunday to play at 5. So come out Sunday as it's expected to be about 60 degrees! That's great baseball weather!
Thanks for reading, have a great day and Gooooooooo Orioles!!!!!!
