Posted April 4, 2017
Lennox picked up the 5 to 1 win over Region 3 South Rival Garretson completeing the season sweep of Garretson.
Lennox's defense has been super impressive giving up only one run in 11 innings of play. In order for Lennox to continue their great success pitching and defense will be essential. Lennox's senior Devon Jongeling came out ready to pitch on Sunday in Garretson. It helped give Jongeling some confidence considering Lennox had a 4-0 lead when he took the mound. A walk and a hit by pitch were surrounded by a single from Quincy Ihnen, a single from Marshall McLaren and a double from Devon Jongeling sparking a 4-0 lead after the 1st. Garretson added one in the bottom of the first to make it 4-1. It stayed like this for quite some time as both starters went six innings.
In the 7th, Shay Gibson came into pitch for Garretson and Lennox worked a lead off walk from JD Kirchner followed by Wulf's stolen base and Ray Williams sacrifice bunt. Then sophomore Zach Foss delivered an RBI single to make it 5-1. Sophomore Quincy Ihen came into pitch to earn the save. He got two outs but then an error gave Garretson a chance. Schlecter singled to center to keep Garretson's fight alive. However, Ihnen got Nick Lundberg to line out to McLaren in right for Lennox to win 5-1.
Lennox got a great performance pitching from Jongeling and Ihnen. McLaren picked up two more RBI's which now gives him 7 and gives him the lead for most RBI's in the state. Quite an awesome accomplishment for Marshall. Come out to Lennox's game tonight in Lennox vs Sioux Falls Christian. A big Region 3 South Rivalry game with good weather to be here.
