Posted April 23, 2017
Lennox uses great pitching and defense to defeat the Hanson County Ducks (2-3) at a final score of 6-1.
Lennox played host to the Hanson County Ducks on Sunday the 23rd. Lennox struggled early on as Hanson County worked a walk to score one run. Lennox answered as Camden Wulf walked and then scored on a wild pitch to tie it at one after one. Hanson was unable to score after that as Senior Braedon Wallenstein worked 4 innings allowing 1 run on 1 hit. Senior Devon Jongeling pitched the final 3 innings as he allowed 0 runs on 1 hit.
Offensively, the Orioles loaded the bases with one out and Sophomore leadoff hitter Camden Wulf coming to the plate. Wulf would hit a soft line drive to shallow center that would score two runners and give Lennox a 3-1 lead. On the next pitch, Sophomore Quincy Ihnen hit a hard line drive to left center to make it a 4-1 lead. In the third inning, Lennox would put two on base for Wulf again. Wulf would hook a line drive down the left field line to lead to another two RBI single making it 6-1.
The final four innings flew by and Lennox got the groudout to third baseman Brock Anderson to seal the 6-1 win. Lennox's defense was near flawless as well as their pitching. Lennox was able to stay undefeated despite the short night for most players due to prom being Saturday. Lennox pushed through the tiredness to pull off the win.
Lennox is scheduled to square off against the current number one team in the state Dakota Valley on Friday at 6. It is a varsity only game since the JV will travel to Dakota Valley on Sunday for the JV only tournament.
