Lennox Prepares for Final Season Push

Four games in six days will be the ending to the 2017 regular season for the currently undefeated LHS Oriole baseball team.

At 10 and 0, Lennox will attempt to do something that no LHS baseball team has done before. Never has a Lennox High School team started 10 and 0. Lennox will try and extend that record as each game goes by. LHS will also try to be the first team to ever go undefeated in a regular season. However, it won't be an easy finish.

Two District 3 South opponents and two Region 3 opponents stand in the way of a perfect season. Lennox will have to battle two long time rivals, Canton and Tea this week in back to back days. On Wednesday, Lennox travels to Canton to play at 5:30. Canton is currently 1 and 7 as they have been on a losing slide the past few games. Canton until last Saturday, was the only team to score more than 2 runs on Lennox. Only two opponents have scored more than two runs on Lennox in a game and Canton is one of them. With the good offense and solid defense, Lennox barely came away with the 5-4 win over Canton the first time.

Thursday in Lennox at 5:30 will be the battle between Lennox and Tea. Tea is currently 6 and 7 and in the 3rd place spot in the District. Last time these two teams met, Lennox's defense was flawless allowing 0 runs and 0 errors to take a 7 to 0 win from Tea. That game was played in front of a packed house at the Tea baseball field and this Thursday's game is expected to be the same.

Saturday's game is expected to be one of the top games to view this week. #5 McCook Central/ Montrose Burros will play at #2 Lennox Orioles at 6. This game is expected to be another tough one for Lennox as this will be the fourth game this season playing a ranked opponent. McCook is currently 7 and 0 defeating one ranked team which was West Central. This game is expected to be a really good game to see.

Finally, Lennox will host another region opponent on Monday the 8th at 5:30 vs Baltic. This game will hopefully be the game where Lennox can clinch an undefeated regular season, however with the tough schedule coming up in the next four days Lennox will have their hands full. Baltic is currently 1 and 9 but it will still be a tough game as Baltic has played well lately. Baltic's last two games were a win and a loss. The win was a 6-5 win over Canton and the loss was a 6-5 loss to McCook. A win and a close loss to a ranked opponent is an impressive week.

With one win this week, Lennox can clinch the top seed in District 3 South meaning they would be the host of the the first round game between Lennox and the winner of the fourth and fifth seed game. With three wins and one being against McCook, Lennox can clinch the top seed in Region 3 making them the host for the Region 3 Tournament.

This team is extremely fun to watch. Whether its a big opponent or small, this team makes every game exciting to watch.
