LHS Game Postponed for Weird Reason; Clinch District 3 South
Posted May 3, 2017
Lennox's game with Canton tonight was tied at 3 in the bottom of four when the base umpire had to leave due to an illness. It was not said for sure, but according to the umpire, he had some bad Chinese Food which led to food poisoning. With only having one certified umpire, the game could not be finished. It is against South Dakota High SChool Baseball Association Rules to not have two certified umpires. The remainder of the game will be played Tuesday, May 9th in Canton at 5:30. It will be the fourth inning to the finish with JV to follow.

While the game was unable to be finished tonight, one good thing did happen and that is the McCook Central Montrose Burros defeating Sioux Falls Christian at a final score of 10 to 3. This means that Lennox leads by 4 games plus has the tie breaker meaning Lennox has a five game lead on SFC with only four games to go. What that means is that Lennox will host the first round of District Playoffs which is set to start anytime between May 15th and May 18th. Lennox will be the 1 seed. The play in game winner played between the 4th seed and 5th seed of District 3 South will play Lennox.

This is an exciting moment for LHS baseball as Lennox has not been the one seed in the district for at least 5 years.
Tomorrow has District 3 South Rival Tea Area coming to Lennox for a 6:00 game. It is expected to be a great day full of sun and around 70 degrees. It is expected to be a full house as these two rivals will go at it for the second time this season. The first game ended with Lennox defeating Tea 7-0 behind a solid pitching outing from Devon Jongeling and Camden Wulf. With zero errors behind them, Lennox was able to hold Tea to zero runs.
