LHS Baseball to Host Opening Round of District Playoffs Monday

Posted May 10, 2017

For the first time in 10 plus seasons, the LHS baseball team has clinched the top seed in both District 3 South and Region 3. This means that Lennox has clinched home field advantage through the 2017 region playoffs. This is a huge advantage as Lennox has had a huge fan base especially at home and in order to make state, the team will need the same amount of support from the commuinity.

It will all start on Monday, May 15th in Lennox at 6:00. The opening round gives the top seed an advantage of facing the winner of the two lower seeds only thirty minutes after the fourth vs fifth seed game is over. What this means is that fifth seeded Canton will play fourth seeded Garretson at 6:00 on Monday the 15th. The winner will get thirty minutes off for Lennox to warm-up and then the winner plays Lennox at around 8:00. Check out this unofficial but accurate DISTRICT 3 SOUTH BRACKET link which is highlighted in blue. It will show how the bracket is set up.

If Lennox can become the District 3 South champion, which would involve beating the fourth or fifth seed Monday and then beating the second or third seed on Tuesday the 23rd, Lennox would still have work to do. Lennox would then need to win the Region 3 bracket which you can see an up to date but still subject to change REGION 3 BRACKET at the highlighted link. The Region 3 Semifinals and Region 3 Championship will all be played on Tuesday, May 23rd at the highest remaining seed. If Lennox wins on the 15th, then the games will be at Lennox on the 23rd with official times of the three games to come some time next week.

Being in the toughest region in the state could make this road to state extremely tough for the Orioles. It all starts on the 15th at around 8:00 vs a District 3 rival. When rivals meet, anything can happen however, when rivals meet in the playoffs, the impossible can occur. Come out and watch this fun team on Monday at 8:00 begin their quest for a state tournament appearance.

I would also like to send a special thank you to three people. Brenda Haan and Pam Leisinger for taking some wonderful pictures of the boys and fans for us. It is great to witness a great win and then get to see the same game in photo form. We would also like to thank the Lennox Independent for the great coverage they give to us.
