Game vs Monstrose-Waverly Ends In Dramatic Fashion

Last night the Hollanders hosted the Montrose-Waverly Stingers for a non-league game. The Hollanders jumped to an early 2-0 lead as the boys scored one in the first and Jon Kummer notched his first Hollander homerun in the second. The Stringers were able to take the lead as they scored three between the third and fourth innings. The lead then switched hands again in the fifth as Cologne brought in two run. MW was not done as they then plated two more in the top half of the seventh. In the bottom of the ninth, Alex Meeker managed to get to third after a walk and two great reads on wild pitches which allowed rookie Zach Nelson to plate Meeker and the tying run with a single. Score managed to stay tied through the 10th and through the 11th. The 12th inning brought some excitement. The middle of MW's lineup brought in one run for the lead. In the bottom half, Nelson was able to draw a lead off walk and steal second. With an 0 and 1 count, Kraig Peterson hits a deep fly to left center field. As the left fielder makes the catch Nelson risks it and tags for third. MW's left fielder makes a money throw to third which is looking like there's a bang-bang play coming. Throw take a hop, Nelson dives, the scoop is made and right when everyone anticipates a play Robert G Fritz Field managed to get into the action. The lights at the field went completely black! As everyone was trying to figure out what happened it was decided to call the game. The result of the pandemonium was a rare thing in baseball: a tie! The Hollanders next game is scheduled as Cologne will host Champlin next Tuesday night at 7:30pm. Ga Hollanders!
