Thanks to all the fans that joined us for $1 beer night and cheered us on through the hazy, smoke filled skies!
New Germany drew first blood last night taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st. Joey Lilya led off the game with a single but was left stranded on 3rd in the bottom half of the inning.
In the bottom of the 3rd, Tim Swanson reached base with a double. Adam Good courtesy ran for Swanson and moved up to 3rd on a balk. Kyle Twait hit a groundball to the right side to score the run and tie the game at 1.
In the 4th, Zack Nelson led off the inning with a single. A few batters later, Carter Clemensen hit one over the left field wall for a 2 run homer to give the Hollanders a 3-1 lead.
The action stayed quiet until the 6th. Max Wiegert walked and David Solfelt doubled down the right field line putting runners at 2nd and 3rd. Swanson hit a sacrifice fly and Twait singled to bring across 2 more runs. The boys extended the lead to 5-1 after 6 innings.
In the 7th, Carter Clemensen started the action with a double and then stole 3rd. Wiegert hit an RBI single followed by a Solfelt walk and Good hit by a pitch to load the bases. Twait delivered again with an RBI single followed by a Graham Burke sac fly to score another run. The lead was now 8-1 after 7 innings.
Casey Clemensen started on the mound. He threw 7 strong innings allowing only 1 run and scattering 4 hits. Joey Lilya threw a scoreless 8th and Carter Clemensen shut the door in the 9th for an 8-1 Hollander victory!
Join us tomorrow night (6/16) for our annual Fill the Hill game. The Norwood Indians come to town for a 7:30pm contest.
This year's Fill the Hill honoree is Jason Kuerschner. He is a former Hollander player, manager and current board President. He is also a board member for the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Association. He dedicates many hours to our ball club and the game of baseball.
Get on out to the ballpark tomorrow night! We are counting on you to PACK THE HILL and cheer on the boys as they seek to extend their winning streak to 5 games.
