Tigers walk-off Hollanders
Posted June 23, 2023
We hit the road last night for a non-league matchup against Belle Plaine.
The Hollanders struck first, starting off the game with 4 consecutive singles by Joey Lilya, Ben Lindberg, Max Wiegert and David Solfelt. Casey Clemensen would a draw a walk and Cologne held a 2-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Belle Plaine led off with a double and he would eventually come around to score to cut the lead in half.
The Tigers would add 2 runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th innings to make the score 7-2. All was quiet on the Hollander front until the 6th. Lindberg led off with a walk followed up by singles for Wiegert and Solfelt. Carter Clemensen would hit a sac fly followed by a Casey Clemensen single to make the score 7-5 after 6.
Heading to the top of the 9th, the score remained 7-5. Lindberg singled, Wiegert reached on a fielders choice and Solfelt singled. With 2 runners on, Carter Clemensen mashed one over the left field wall to give Cologne the 8-7 lead. Unfortunately the Tigers would strike with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the 9th for a 9-8 walk-off win.
Overall, we played a solid game with 17 total hits. We left just about as many runners on base or the outcome may have been different.
Up next, we head to Green Isle this Sunday (6/25) for a 2:00pm contest.
