
Watch Out for that Heatwave!

After a quick start, the City of Riviera Beach Parks and Recreation gave the approval for the Riviera Beach Heatwave (RBH), the Premier Professional Development Basketball Team of South Florida for Women their new home. Riviera Beach Heatwave consists of female basketball players over the age of 20 whom have exhausted their NCAA eligibility, and are looking to go Pro.
"I look forward to working with the City of Riviera Beach to promote the professional dreams of young women!" the Founder, Claudene Gooden-Brooks, stated as the confirmation from the Director of Parks and Recreations, Richard Blankenship, gave her the thumbs up. Mr. Blankenship stated that it was a great way to do something positive for the Women of this City.
Riviera Beach Heatwave is a salute to the 2003 New Orleans Heatwave, created by the alumni of University of New Orleans. Claudene Gooden-Brooks was one of them. The New Orleans Heatwave was the first team in New Orleans, LA to provide competitive basketball for women after college, but after Hurricane Katrina, it was dismantled.
RBH is holding open tryouts on Tuesdays and Thursday from 7:45 PM to 9:30 PM at Wells Recreation Center. They welcome any female basketball players that are over the age of 20 whom have exhausted their NCAA eligibility. NAIA players are welcomed. Their first game is on May 12, 2018, tip off at 5 PM. Come early, at 4:30 PM, RBH has special pre-game entertainment and good food for everyone!
