All-Stars set to battle July 5
Keeping things Civil
The retro craze hit the North Star League again. After taking the better part of a decade off, the
league All-Star Game is back—coming to Maple Lake at 7:30 on Friday, July 5.
In past years, the North Star all-stars have matched up against similar teams from other leagues,
such as the Carver Central or Crow River. However, no nearby league was up to the North Star
challenge, forcing us to get a little creative in building some rivalry.
This year’s version will be a civil war of sorts, with the league split into a North team and a South
team. Call it Highway 55 vs. Highway 12. And while it may have been fun to square off against
another league, this format gives more local players (roughly three per team) the chance to play.
The intraleague setup is not without interesting arrangements. Strange bedfellows include St.
Michael and Albertville (together at last); Buffalo and Albertville (several Bulldogs having played
for the Villains last year); and Litchfield and...well, just about everyone has a rivalry with Litchfield.
So plenty of drama awaits when the stars come out in Maple Lake next Friday.

Jason Lesser was staked to a 15 run lead in the first two innings
while he was retiring all 21 Rogers batters he faced to
notch the first perfect game recorded in North Star history.
Rockford has relied on Jason’s arm for the bulk of their pitching
again this year. The difference this year is that Nathan Hochmuth
and Cole Hansen are also chipping in quality innings.
JUNE 23rd 2006
The Mallards came up with the most surprising upset of the season
by knocking D-C out the ranks of the undefeated. Struggling all year to
keep opponents off the scoreboard, Mound’s Robb Moynagh got the start
and held D-C as the Mallards took a 6-4 decision. Peter Sycks (.406) and Peter
Harrell (.323) top the Mound hitters,

THE NORTH STAR LEAGUE SPECTATOR
The 2013 Spectator
C teams to play a 22 game schedule
At the “C” level, Montrose/Waverly has been added as a 12th team.
All of the C teams will belong to one division, the Central Division.
Each of the twelve teams will play the other eleven teams twice this year.
Waverly/Montrose
2012 league record—None
2013 is the initial season for the Waverly/Montrose Stingers.
They will rely heavily on the 6 players with Town
Team experience, Kirby & Robb Moynagh, Travis Bickman,
John Peterson, Jason Frey and Jeff Holt. The Stingers
are hoping to use their speed to create offense and make
plays defensively. Their lack of experience on the mound
is expected to be a major weakness and like most first year
teams hope to remain competitive, but will probably struggle
to win a lot of games.
Two Stingers named to 2013 NSL All Star team.. Congrates go out to Jake Grangroth and kirby Moynagh.
