Cloverdale Spurs Bantam AAA Tryouts and Evaluations for the 2012 seasonTeam begin on February 4th. There will be two Spurs Bantam AAA teams and there are 24-25 roster spots to fill. These tryouts are open to all players born in 1997 and 1998 wishing to play Bantam AAA in Cloverdale for the 2012 season. The Spurs are pleased to announce the return of their 3rd Annual Bantam AAA Spring Jamboree March 30 to April 1st. The event is a fun way to get your team in shape for the season in a semi competitive environment. Because last year we did not keep score but everyone wanted to know who won, we decided to keep scores and add a Final game between the top two teams. MVP awards for each game will be awarded for each game and finalists will all receive trophies.

After a 4 year College career and a Junior College World Series Championship and MVP award, Drew Parker returns to Cloverdale and will be the Spurs Pitching Instructor for the 2012 season. Drew brings a great winning attitude to Cloverdale with two Bantam AAA Championships for Cloverdale, A JUCO World Series, and a WMBL Championship in Regina last year. Hispitching knowledge, his college and national team experience, and positive outlook will be a great adition to the Spurs family. Welcome to the team Drew!

After a fabulous experience at the Yakima Summer Sizzler this past Summer, the Spurs reurn with an army of 4 teams for Fall Ball. Two U15 teams will compete in the Bench Jockey Classic at beautiful Selah High School from Sept 23-25. Meanwhile our two U13 teams will compete in the Yakima Fall Ball League for 4 games each on September 24-25, including two games under the lights at the fabulous Kiwanis Gateway Complex.

With the Baseball Gods shinning on the Cloverdale Spurs Fall Classic, fans were treated to some great fall baseball with lots of close games. Pitching was in mid -season form for most teams. At Cloverdale BallPark, the Vancouver Mounties defeated the Tri-City Indians 5-4 in a come from behind victory that ended with a spectacular defensive play to seal the championship. Both Teams had gone 3-1 in the round robbin to advance to the final.

As a reward for winning silver at the Provincials, The Vancouver Mounties will be representing Team BC at the Western Canadian Bantam AAA Championships. Mandated by BC Minor to expend their roster to 18 players, the Mounties look at their numerous scouting reports from the season in search of pitching and catching help.

Posted Aug 12/11 - Spurs' Season Ends in Semi's at the hands of the Eagles' Big Lefty

After an awful start against the North Delta Astros in their first game of the Provincials, the Spurs bounced back with 3 consecutive wins to secure top spot in their pool. The host team from Victoria would prove though in the semi-finals however as they sent their big Lefty to the mound. Horne would feed on the cheers of the home crowd as he struck out 14 Spurs in a complete game 7-1 win. The Eagles would build on their victory to defeat the Vancouver Mounties in the final and secure the 2011 Bantam AAA Crown and advance to the Nationals in Vaughn Ontario later this month.

With their afros, good looks, and dance moves, Disco Dave, Jeff, John, and Ben hit the top of the charts in the seventies.

Posted Jul 10/11 - Spurs Clinch Berth in Provincials!

In their first game since the Cloverdale CanAM Cup, the Spurs slid past Abbottsford 3-2 for their 14 consecutive win. The victory sealed a spot in the Provincials next month in Victoria. Robichaud's two run blast secure the victory while Storrie, Starinieri, and Young combined to hold the Angels in check all night loong. The Spurs continue their solid defensive play and the coaches feel it's a just reward for all the work their players put in that aspect of their game.

While finishing one of the purs most exciting game of the season in a 7-7 tie with Victoria SR seemed a little anti-climatic, BC Minor has ruled the game suspended and it must be completed on June 26 at Bird Field in Poco before Victoria faces Tri-City. The Game will be at 10:30 AM so boys don't plan any hot date for Saturday night on June 25th. Coaches will have to curtail all alchool consumption on that evening as welll...

On a rare beautiful night for baseball this spring, the Spurs put their 8 game win streak on the line against the 9-2 North Delta Astros on Thursday Night at Cloverdale BallPark. The Spurs offence jumped on the Astros' Starter with 8 hits in 3 innings to secure another 8-4 win.

The Spurs returned to the Diamond on Tuesday night at Cloverdale Ball Park running a seven game win streak. Facing a tough Burnaby Braves team who just blanked the league leading Tri-City Indians to secure the Championship of the Burnaby Icebreaker.

On a miserable Thursday evening, the Spurs left their focus at home and were lucky to come out of the first inning with only one run allowed on a plethora of errors. Fighting poor execution all night long, the Spurs squeezed an 8-4 win over Abbotsford when the umpires stop this "Error Show" because of dangerous field conditions in the seventh inning.

The Cloverdale Spurs are pleased to accept the White Rock Riptides' Invitation and enter their 1st Annual Spring Break Tournament. Unlike our Jamboree, this will be our first competitive tournament of the season and allow us to play against other Lower Mainland teams before the season starts.
