After travelling 3000 miles and getting to bed around midnight, the Spurs were still pumped to open Pastime Tournaments World Series Qualifier at famed Notre Dame University in South Bend Indiana. Facing Chicago`s Bridgeport Bombers at 9AM (6AM BC Time) in the opener, the Spurs were ready to battle.
Storrie dazzled on the mound pitching 4 scoreless innings striking out 7 in a dominating performance that left scouts whispering. Even the Fighting Irish want him to become a good catholic boy... In a well played game, the Spurs had to settle for a 1-1 tie as the Bombers tied the game in their last at bat on a couple of eye-seing singles. Sloan was great in relief allowing only one run in 3 innings of work. Gentles and Leclair had two hits apiece and Godard drove in the only run of the game for the Red and Black.
While they believed they deserved a better faith, playing at famed Frank Eck Stadium was truly an experience that the boys will remember for a lifetime...
