The Pembina Valley Orioles split their double header this afternoon with the St. Boniface Legionaires. The Legionaires took the first contest 9-5 with the Orioles replying to that result with a 10-2 decision in Game 2.
Youth dominated the Oriole mound in Game 1, with Bryan Evans getting the start and Travis Friesen in relief. The game was finished off by newcomer Pat Vandoorne, who impressed in his first stint with the Orioles. Game 2 saw power-pitcher Paul Thompson take to the mound, earning the first win of the year for the Orioles. Offensively, the Orioles were led by Mark Hildebrand and Brady Nichol, each registering multi-hit games.
The Orioles next action is Victoria Day, May 23 in Steinbach when they take on the Carillon Sultans.
