Posted May 23/11 - Cold Weather Doesn't Slow Down Orioles in Sweep of Sultans
The Pembina Valley Orioles braved the wind and cold weather to sweep a double header against the Carillon Sultans on Monday. The Orioles took the first game 5-1 and survived a seventh inning scare to take game two 4-2.
Ryan Shaw picked up the win in game one, allowing only one run over seven innings of work. Bret Heselwood picked up the win in game two, blanking the Sultans for six innings. Hayden Johnson came in for two outs of work in the seventh, allowing two unearned runs and was followed by Bryan Evans for the last out of the game.
Offensively, the entire Orioles lineup contributed from top to bottom, but was highlighted by a Brady Nichol triple in game two.
The Orioles next travel to Winnipeg South on Wednesday to take on the newest team in the Manitoba Junior Baseball League. Game time is 7:00.
