Posted May 27/11 - Poor Effort and Small Roster Lead to Oriole Loss to Chiefs
The Pembina Valley Orioles entered Wednesday one game over .500, hoping to further improve their record against the newest team in the Manitoba Junior Baseball League.
However, the Winnipeg South Chiefs had other thoughts. A short Oriole lineup and a strong effort by the Chiefs led to a 5-2 loss for the Orioles, dropping them to 3-3.
The Orioles struggled at the plate and in the field, with the defense committing five errors and few hits coming at the plate. Hayden Johnson, however, pitched well on the mound, forcing the Chiefs to hit into numerous plays that resulted in Oriole errors.
The Orioles attempt to shake off their loss to the Chiefs over the next few days before their double-header Sunday when they take on the St. James A's in St. James.
