Colton Back went 2-3, helping Russell County Lakers Varsity to a 3-0 victory over Dunbar on Saturday at Butler High.
He singled in the fourth and sixth innings.
Russell County Lakers Varsity's Brennan Coffey kept Dunbar off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the bump. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on five hits while striking out seven.
Cress ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
Russell County Lakers Varsity went up for good in the fourth, scoring one run on an RBI single by Taylor Grider.
Russell County Lakers Varsity scored one run in the fifth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the sixth. In the fifth, Russell County Lakers Varsity scored on a walk by Taylor, plating Grant Best.
