Posted Jun 3/10 - Lakers run to repeat falls short

The Lakers bid to repeat as 4th Region Champions came up a little short, falling to the hometown Warren Central Dragons 11-1. A tough draw and two tough opponents in the first two rounds were to much to overcome.

The Dragons got off to a quick start in the first inning, scoring 3 runs off Laker starter Martin Cross. The Laker bats couldn't get going either. The Dragons starting pitcher, Shane Waldrop, kept Lakers off the bases most of the game. The Lakers put the ball in play, but most of the time directly at a Dragon fielder. With the score 3-1, Jordan Best sac bunted the runner to 2nd and 3rd with Hunter Best coming to the plate. Hunter was unable to drive in the tying runs, hitting a line drive directly the centerfielder of Warren Central.

The loss ended the season for the Lakers as 4th Region Runner-up. The Lakers ended the season with 30 wins, tying the the record for most wins in a season by a Laker baseball team. The season also saw records fall with Hunter Best breaking the records for hits in  a season. Also, Coach David Rexroat earned his 200th win as Laker Head Coach.
