VCB Bantam AAA Mounties baseball

TRYOUTS for the 2023 season will take place the weekend of January 7/8. Callbacks (final tryouts) will take place the weekend of January 14/15.

All sessions will be at the Rose Indoor Training Centre at UBC Baseball.

All players must be registered for tryouts ahead of time through the Vancouver Community Baseball website. Registration will open December 15th.

The Mounties would like to thank all players who attended assessments on Saturday March 6th. Everyone competed hard and gave their best, and it was fantastic to see kids on a ball diamond and enjoying themselves outdoors. Based on the results of our initial assessments, we would like to invite the following players to attend formal AAA tryouts, which are planned for Tuesday March 9th from 4:30-630 PM @ Hillcrest Park, Saturday March 13th from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM @ Hillcrest Park, and an additional session on Sunday March 14th, site TBA.

VCB 2021 Bantam Tryouts start soon!

Bantam AAA and AA Assessments will be conducted Saturday March 6th @ Hillcrest Park

Players registered with VCB have been sent an e mail notification of arrival time(s) and required steps, which include a signed liability waiver as a condition of participation.

Social Distancing, respect for COVID protocols and compliance with coach instructions at all times is required of players. If you are not feeling well or show any symptoms of illness, please do not attend. Players should bring their own equipment, plenty of water, and an energy bar or snack to get through a two hour assessment session.

In order to maintain social distancing, arriving players will be broken into groups that rotate through three assessment stations: hitting will be assessed on the Midget diamond, infield skills will be assessed on the Bantam Diamond, Outfield skills…will be held in the deep outfield in a safe place away from soccer players.

Check in procedures:

Parents should drop their player off and not enter the park
Players who are not registered with VCB will not be permitted to participate.
Registered players should visit @yankeepat in the first base stands to turn in their waiver, check in, and receive a label with their player number on it.
Registered players will be directed to maintain social distancing and wait with their bags in a safe place while everyone completes check in.
Warm up will start promptly at 10:30 AM, the assessment will conclude by 12:30 PM

The forecast is for showers, but traveling teams play in light showers and assessments will continue if the field is playable. Should the field not be playable, assessments will shift to the same time and place on Sunday AM. If the weather is uncertain, please check your e mail before heading to the park: if you do not receive an e mail rescheduling the event, the assessments are on.

After AAA and AA assessments are complete, a smaller group of players will be invited to a final AAA tryout @ Hillcrest Park the following weekend. Players who do not continue in the AAA selection process will have their assessment information made available to the coaches selecting the two Bantam AA teams VCB will field this year. All Players will be informed if they have earned their way onto either an AA or AAA team via an announcement on the VCB site that will be posted by the end of the third weekend in March.

Step 1: Go to the Vancouver Community Baseball website and register for the 2020 season by selecting the base

"Bantam package" and pay the base registration fee. You can register and view our league

Players will be asked to attend one indoor tryout session at the Ball Yard in Richmond

on January 25 (7:30-9:30pm) or February 6 (8-9:30pm) in addition to an on field session to be held

at UBC on February 2 (yes, it's Super Bowl Sunday but we will be done by Noon).

After these inital sessions, cuts will be made and some players will be invited back for final sessions

on Feb 8 (Noon-2pm) on field at UBC and Feb 13 (8-9:30pm) at the Ball Yard.

Target date for roster announcement is Feb 14.

VCB Mounties Bantam AAA Tryout Dates Announced

Tryouts for the team will be held at the following dates and times:

February 1 - 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm (indoors)

February 2 - 9:00 am - 11:00 am (indoors & on field)

February 6 - 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm (indoors) **invitees only** (see below)

All sessions will be held at the UBC Baseball Training Centre

Players MUST also email bantamaaamounties@gmail.com if you plan to try out.

Please pay the initial Bantam $325 fee on the Vancouver Community Baseball website.

Do NOT yet pay the Bantam AAA fee which is only for players who make the team. Players not selected to Bantam AAA will be placed on the AA or A rosters.

If you are not in Vancouver Community Baseball's catchment area, you must have a release from your home league to tryout for the team.

Players who are selected will then pay $1,075 to Vancouver Community Baseball and an additional $300 to the Mounties team directly. Total cost is $1700 for players who make the team. This covers cost for uniforms, umpires, equipment, field maintenance and materials, insurance, league dues, coaches travel expenses and three tournaments and seven 2 hour sessions at the UBC indoor facility. The Bantam AAA Mounties will play up to 80 games and have up to 50 practices. (4-5 baseball events per week). As of April 1 players are expected to make baseball their #1 priority.
