JV wins its season opener with a home victory 6-5 over Myrtle Beach.  The Seahawks scored an unearned run in the first inning on a double a bunt and a throwing error.  The Braves responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-1 lead.   Trevor Bigham  was the starting pitcher  and pitched 4 solid innings but was victimized by poor fielding (Socastee committed at least 8 errors in the game) and left the game with the score tied at 4.  Bubba Martin pitched the last three innings giving up just one run to pick up the victory.  With the score tied 5-5 in the bottom of the 7 innng the Braves rallied to push across an unearned run to walk off with the victory.  Bubba Martin led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a well executed bunt by Trevor Bigham.  After a walk and another out, Carlos Fernandez battled the count the count full to three balls and two strikes. With the runners advancing on the pitch, Carlos lifted a high fly ball to very short right field that was not handled by the second baseman and allowed Bubba Martin to score from second base and secure the victory. 

The teams next game is at Carolina Forest on Thursday, March 10.

               Dillon Thompson pitched a 3 hit shutout and Socastee took advantage of St. James miscues and walks for a 5-0 victory  Dillon struck out seven and had no walks in pitching the complete game.    Socasstee had only two hits, a key hit by Cris Davis that scored the winning runs and also R J Bethea had the other single.

Game 3   Socastee16     Carolina Forest  9
             Socastee bats came alive in the first inning.  13 runners came to the plate with 7 of them being solid hits creating 9 runs.   Carolina Forest came back in the 2nd with 6 runs but the Braves scored 3 in the 3rd and 1 in the fourth and put the game away in the 7th with 4 more. Tyler Dillon led the 15 hit attack with 4 hits and 4 runs scored and Zack Hyde also had 4 hits and 3 runs scored  Kyle Smith had 2 hits.  Others getting hits were Dalton Smith, Bubba Martin,Josh Davis, Carlos Fernandez,and Hunter Renfrow.

Game 4  Socastee 17      North Myrtle beach   0
          Socastee once again flexed their hitting and Austin Schmitz pitched the shutout.The Braves scored 10 runs in the to ice the game.Tyler Dillon had 2 hits along with Bubba Martin and Hunter Renfro.  Carlos fernandez, Dalton Smith,and Zack Hyde each had a hit

Game 5  Conway 5       Socastee 4
          Socastee lost their first game of the season in a well played game and some good pitching by carlos Fernandez, Jason Farria, and Bubba Martin .  Th score was tied 4-4 until the top of the 5th when Conway scored a run with no hits in the inning.   Bubba was charged with the loss .  Trevor Bingham had 2 hits.  Dalton Smith , Bubba Martin, Carlos Fernandez each had a hit.


Game 6  Socastee 15   Myrtle Beach 2
        Trevor Bingham picked up the victory with 10 ks and only 6 hits.   Hitting honors went to Hyde with 3 hits, Tyler Dillon2, Bubba Martin (3b)  Trevor Bingham, R J Bethea, Dillon, and Luke West had one hit each.

 

Conway 6   Socastee 2   
Socastee suffered their 2nd loss of the season Austin Schmitz was the starting pitcher for the Braves. He gave up a home run and 2 runs in the first but bounced back  and pitched a solid 4 inningsallowing 4 hits and 2 runs.
 
 
Trevor Bingham pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits and Justin Farria struck out 2 in finishing up the 6th .
The Braves bats came up with only 5 hits.  Dillon Raze had 2 hits and an rbi and Zack Hyde also had two hits one being a double. Bubba Martin had one hit and scored a runl
 
Waccamaw 8   Socastee 5
     Socastee lost to Waccamaw mainly on 2 big innings, 4 runs in the 2nd and 4 in the 6th.    Bubba Martin pitched the first 3innings giving up 4 runs (3 earned,and 3 hits.  Carlos Fernandez pitched 21/3 innings (3runs,2earned,4hits,And Jason Farria (2/3 innings,4hits,1earned run 
     Hitting honors went to Dylan Thompson (2-4,1rbi), Hunter Renfrow(2-4,1rbi,2runs scored), Dalton Smith (2-4,2basehit,2rbi)Trevor Bingham(1-4), Zack Hyde(1-3,sac), Josh Davis(1-3,run scored), Austin Schmitz(1-3,run scored) and Bubba Martin (1-4).
 
 St  James      8                        Socastee   1
        Trevor Bingham sstarted for the Braves and was the victim of 3 errors in both the first and second innings after 2 were out in each inning , leading to 7 unearned runs.    He was relieved in the 2nd by Austin Schmitz and the team settled in and fielded flawlessly for the remainder of the game.   Austin pitched 3 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits and sriking out 5.   Jason Farria pitched the final inning and got the side out in order.
        Once again the Braves could manage only four singles, Conner Obrien, Zack Hyde, Josh Davis, and  Tyler Hudson (scored the only Braves run)

     Carolina Forest      10                                         Socastee      0
 
               Carolina Forest came to Socastee to avenge one of their 2 losses on the season and did just that in a very big way.
 
              The outcome of the game was decided in the 1st inning when Carolina Forest scored three runs and never looked back as they went on to a 10 to 0 win.
 
             Bubba Martin was the starting and losing pitcher going 3 2/3 innings  he was relieved by Jason Farria who pitched 1 inning and Taylor Ivey, who got his first chance to pitch this season, and pitched one pitch for the putout,a groundout to second base  Socastee managed only 2 hits , one by Carlos Fernandez and one by Tyler Dillon, both doubles.  
        Our record for the season is 5 and 5 with one more game scheduled with North Myrtle Beach
