Posted Feb 21/10 - Weather Could Push Back Opening Day
This offseason has to be the worst in league history. Mother nature is controlling the league as of now. The snow fall in the area this winter is at a all time high and normally the season would start in early April could possibly start in mid April. Spring training games are scheduled to start in March and they could also be pushed back. These games will be very important due to the players that are coming in for the draft. Also most importantly the field still needs some renovations before opening day. The fence has still not been moved and the baselines will need shaping up. Lets not forget that this years season will feature 45 games instead of 30. Starting on time will be crucial so the season doesnt spill into October. If this weather continues it will affect the league dramatically. Players will be affected for the most part because it will definantly hurt their momentum.

Posted Mar 10/10 - Spring Training Starts This Sunday
March 14th is the start of Spring Training for the 2010 season. With new field dimensions and several new players along with the first ever Lake Area Wiffleball Draft, this could be our best season to date. Games are set to begin at 12 o'clock. Players are expected to come ready to play and have their Player's Fees for the season (See Rules for Details). We are going to put up the new fence before Opening Day and could use any players that are willing to come out and help make productivity move along faster so our field can look top notch. Also if anybody has any extra cash or even spare change they are willing to donate to helping out this season for either new balls, bats, or just to help us make our field look better, it would be very much appreciated.Looking forward to seeing all of our veterans and rookies this Sunday. If you have any questions, call either Tyler or Brian and we will be happy to clarify.

Posted Feb 22/10 - Trumbetti Signs With Swamp Dragons

At 9:32 pm tonight Tyler Trumbetti and the Swamp Dragons came to a conclusion. Tyler Eckert released 2009 rookie Alex Lavdas and signed Trumbetti. Tyler Trumbetti was on the Sidewinders roster last season but failed to make a handful of games. As it may seem like a big deal for this team, Trumbetti will be a rookie this year because he only made 8 games. Not enough to qualify for a full season which was 20.

Posted Feb 21/10 - Joey Kelly Has Good Outlook On 2010

The 2010 season for the Thunder is looking very bright. And captain Joey Kelly agrees. After struggling alittle last year in 09 they may benefit. They get the 2nd round in the first ever 2010 players draft.

Posted Feb 21/10 - 1st Round Pick For The Sidewinders

In the first ever 2010 Lake Area Wiffleball players draft the Sidewinders will get the 1st round pick. After finishing the season last year with a record of 1-29 they tied the Lookouts worst record in 2008 for the worst of all time. Not to mention they scored the least runs by a team in history by only scoring 27 runs and gave up a whopping 178 runs. Those numbers make that 2009 team the worst ever.

Posted Feb 6/10 - Sidewinders Make Major Upgrade
After the 2009 season the question for the Sidewinders was will they remain to play in the league and if they do will they win in 2010. That question may be answered this year. After a close suspension for Adam Dischert, he was released by the Shorebirds and signed with the Sidewinders. This is a major upgrade for this team as they will get a great contact hitter with some power and the best fielder in the league as of now. Jake Dickerson said " I like this move because now i feel pretty good about winning" Dischert will also provide some pitching for the desperate team. Things are looking brighter for a team that could be surprizing in the league.

Posted Feb 1/10 - Shorebirds Lose Dischert To Suspension
The 7 year vets career as of the 2010 season has come to an unwanted end. Adam Dischert was suspended from the league on Febuary 1st 2010, just 2 months away from opening day. The reason will not be mentioned on here. This makes the 2nd player in 2 years that has been suspended in the league. Dischert who has turned his career around in the last 3 years will be missed this season. Last season he hit for career highs in all of the hitting categories and also won his 2nd gold glove in 2 years. In 08 and 09 he played in the World Series hoping to get a ring but he will have to wait until mid way in the 2010 season or until 2011 determining the disicion. Acorrding to the league rules anyone who violates this rule will be dismissed for a whole season unless a vote says otherwise. It was shaping up to be a unforgettable season for the vet as he was aproaching the 100 homerun mark. If all goes well off the field for this kid, look to see him back on the field but that will be decided by the league officials.

Posted Feb 1/10 - Slavitsky And Shorebirds Make A Deal
After a very long season off due to suspension for Zack Slavitsky, he has found his way back into the league and on a promising team. After the lose of Adam Dischert the Shorebirds needed a player. But did the Shorebirds really gain anything better from this? Many would say yes over the historty and stories that Zack Slavitsky's name holds. Lets be honest, Slavitsky is not the same player. He was off for 1 whole season and now has a bad shoulder injury to his pitching arm. There also has been an increase in the compitition in the past years. Teams like the Threshers, Thunder, Mudcats, and the Swamp Dragons all look to do damage. And all are capable of it too. It seems as Slavitsky is playing his second rookie season. He has to establish himself yet again and overcome an injury which will hang on him through the year and battle new faces in the league that are much better than the 07 and 08 season. However; opening day is getting closer and the important thing is that the Shorebirds have filled their roster slot. They may not be as strong as last season and Slavitsky may not be the player he used to be, but they are going to have to find out what it is like to play together. Romani said "I feel very good about this move. Sure he is rusty, I dont expect 30 jacks this season or do i expect a long term deal. I just wanted a good player that is a threat to pitchers minds and can give me and the team some relief." Also  Romani mentioned that he is very happy that he is back in the game and hope that he stays for along time.

Posted Jan 4/10 - Add 3 More Players To The 100 HR Club
This year we should witness 3 more players reach the 100th homerun milestone. Brian Eifert has 98, Joey Kelly has 81, and Adam Dishert has 83. Each player is very capable of reaching 100 espeacially Brian as he only needs 2 to get there. Other players like Kelly and Dischert will have to push harder. Both players had very strong seasons last year but with the fences moving back this could be a huge factor. They may have to play another full season to get there. Zach Gould did it last year making him the 3rd player to do it and Eddie Eifert reached it in 08. Brian Romani reached it in 07. But if Joey Kelly reaches it this year he will the fastest player to do it in history. All the other members who have done it all played more than 5 years. This will be Kellys 4th year in the league. Dischert has played 7 along with Brian Eifert. As mentioned earlier the fences will play a factor for everything in hitting but homeruns may be a rare sight from certain players and numbers will drop. But these players are so close that could end up not bothering them at all.

Posted Jan 4/10 - Rumor Has Mike Zier Coming Back
A recent rumor has it that Mike Zier will be coming back to play for the Sidewinders. Again its only a rumor. Just the Slavitsky rumor. If he does come back he will definently stregthen this team. He is a good pitcher and the team lacked that alot. He will also provide runs for the offense he did hit 32 homeruns for his very short 37 game career. He packs alot of power and is able to stun a team at any time. This will help the Sidewinders out dramatically and help put them on track to becoming a good team for years to come. But each year his name comes up for free agents and he seems to be overlooked. Hopefully if the moment is meant to be he will join the team and continue on to his future HOF career.

Posted Jan 3/10 - Lookouts Change Thier Name to Swamp Dragons

It is a new year. Why not time for a new change? The Lookouts have changed their name to the Swamp Dragons. Tyler Eckert the team captain made the disicion on January 3rd 2010. Eckert said "hopefully this will give us a new feel and help eliminate the curse that the Lookouts had". Maybe it will eliminate the Kyle Grover Curse but will it create a new one as the Lookouts were an original team for 7 years. Or it could help the team finally get rolling to the World Series again.

Posted Jan 3/10 - Can Romani Hit 60 This Year?
It does seem imposible to do. But he did manage to hit 54 last year in the regular season. Many think that 60 is a long shot considering that the fences will be moved back 10 ft. Brian Romani said "For me its possible, and it is a goal of mine but really i want to win another world series." If he thinks its possible than maybe it is. But that wont be the first thing on his mind as he said he will focus on getting the title back. Even with fences moved back this year he will also be facing better pitching as the league has gotten more competetive on the mound. It will be much harder for any player to hit homeruns this year and of course there will be lower projected stats.
