| Posted Jun 2/11 - Orioles Come From Behind To Steal Road Win From Giants |
| A late inning rally, complementing a tremendous pitching performance propelled the Pembina Valley Orioles to a 2-1 win over the Elmwood Giants Wednesday evening. Two costly errors for the Giants in the 7th inning allowed the Orioles to tie the game at 1 run per side. From there, the Orioles were able to push the winning run across in the top of the 8th on a bases loaded walk by Daylan Laramee. Hayden Johnson pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing only one hit while walking 6 and striking out 7. Riley Penner came on in relief in the bottom of the 7th, getting the Orioles out of a bases loaded threat from the Giants. Penner remained on the mound for the 8th, picking up his first win of the season. The Orioles finally return home after a lengthy road trip on Sunday when they take on the Winnipeg South Chiefs at Buhler Field. The Orioles will attempt to get revenge on the Chiefs. Saturday night marks the Pembina Valley Orioles Fundraising Social in Somerset. Tickets are $10 with a bus leaving from the Morden Rec Centre at 9:30 PM. Come out and support the Orioles for the 2011 season! |
