| Posted Jun 5/11 - Orioles Get Double-Dose Of Revenge In Doubleheader With Chiefs |
| After losing to the Winnipeg South Chiefs on May 25, the Pembina Valley Orioles took double revenge today at Buhler Field in Morden. The Orioles took Game 1 13-1 and Game 2 10-0. In Game 1, the Orioles got off to a slow start at the plate against Chiefs pitcher Scott Dyck. The game remained nearly dead even until Dyck was pulled, allowing the Orioles to tear the cover off the ball, ending the game in the 5th inning via the mercy rule. Wade Haight pitched 4 innings, giving up one run, with Dustin Donald entering the game in the 5th inning to close things out for the Orioles. Tyler Reiner made his Oriole debut, stroking 3 hits in his first 3 at-bats. Game 2 saw Ryan Shaw dominate the Chiefs on the mound, pitching 5 strong innings and giving up only 1 hit. Success at the plate continued for the Orioles, led once again by Dustin Donald, Brady Nichol and Mark Hildebrand. A single to the fence by Nichol ended the game in the 5th inning, via the mercy rule. The Orioles next action goes Wednesday in Morden when the Carillon Sultans come to town. Game time is 7:00. |
