| Posted Mar 23/12 - Socastee Splits Doubleheader |
| In games held at the Ripken Complex, Socastee defeated the Arkansas Eagles 6-4 and lost to Gliman 2-1. Austin Schmitz pitched 4 2/3 innings, giving up just two earned runs and Trevor Bigham pitched the final 2 1/3. While Hunter Renfrow (3 rbi's), Charlie Nicholson (2 rbi's) and Dalton Smith led the offense with two hits each. Game two featured a pitchers duel between Carlos Fernandez and Ryan Ripken. Carlos Fernandez pitched brilliantly for 5 1/3 innings giving up just 2 runs before being relieved by Charlie Nicholson whom pitched the final 1 2/3 scoreless innings. While Ryan Ripken was gone after three innings, the Braves could only muster 1 run on a Walker Darnell double. ( details posted on 12 Varsity button - stats have been updated) |
