From the application/naming process run by PG Youth Baseball, the head coach (manager) of the AAA team is Jim Swanson. (Any other teams, TBD -- Bucky Schmidt is head coach for the top Mosquito division all-star team, and will do a great job!) The AAA coaching staff included Brad Kreitz, Keith Hampe and Denny Astorino, there were changes to the coaching group required mid-season.

The top Knights has bid on and successfully attracted the AAA Peewee Provincial Championship, Aug. 8-12 at Spruce City Stadium in Prince George and it was an exciting event. PGYBA rules mean the roster cannot be finalized until May 15.

This is a very, very strong group, dedicated/skilled athletes with a lot of "bigger" kids, and 25 players had a legitimate opportunity to make the 12-player roster. That really helped the B team (which chose to play at the single-A provincials in Surrey on the August Long Weekend).

The commitment from players last winter was exceptional, and in making the team a premium will be put on skill, work ethic, commitment, mental toughness -- and parental support of the team concept is critical for success. For parents who do not understand this concept, this may not be the right place for them.

This needs to be very, very clear -- the AAA team is a rep team, not a house team, and playing time WILL NOT be even. If you are a parent/player who judges a team's success and keeps score based on how many innings defensively (pitching, position) the player sees, or how many plate appearances, and compares that to other players, this is NOT the team for you. The AAA team will be coached so as to use the players in the best way to benefit THE TEAM, not any one individual.

AAA rules (see link below) require each player to see a minimum of one inning defensively, and one plate appearance, with 10 players (out of a roster of 12) batting. Players can be entered/re-entered to make this happen. The AAA rules likely mean the roster is rounded out with an extra pitcher or two, rather than an extra outfielder/position player/hitter.

Rules for pitching, dimensions, eligibility, etc, can be found here -- most questions/misunderstandings tend to come from rules 23-27.
