Parent Meeting

Attendance:  Darcie Rea, Jennifer & Bill Lucas, Shelley Kwong, Mark Randall

1.  Communication - Jennifer Lucas stepped up for the communication role.  Primary duties to include keeping web page up to date, being voice from parent to staff and vice versa.

Jennifer will send out email looking for cell contact so that parent group emails, text can be created.

Action: Jennifer to send email out to parents to confirm email address and cell numbers.  Mark to send Jennifer web page passwords.

Aaron will continue to update Twitter account.

2.  Grants/Fund raising committee - Suggestion that this subcommittee has 2-3 individuals who can work on the initial ideas and then have a subcommittee to work on special events.   Mark will ask Katie if she is willing to work on this subcommittee. Chris James name also suggested for this subcommittee.

Action:  

A.  Wine tasting - Bill to look into Co-op Wines in Riverbend to see if they have an open date in late November, early December as a fund raiser.

B.  Alumni Gala - Darcie graciously stepped up to chair this group and pull together other parents for a subcommittee. Darcie to look into locations and date.  Dates were discussed, December, early May.  Through Friends of the Academy, tax receipts can be issued.

C.  Grants - Mark to pull list of equipment needs with model numbers & pricing.  Grant links forwarded to Mark, need someone to apply for grants;

3.  New Building - Discussion took place around a new building to be used as an indoor facility.  Leasing opportunities are being looked at by Jennifer.

4.  Host Families Program - Discussion took place around the need for a host families program for our out of town students.  Chris James name was suggested for this task.  Mark will bring in copy of Oiler’s host families.

5.  Parent Survey - Discussion took place around parent survey.
